He has been staying in a shelter in Brooklyn. It was incredible timing and I was thrilled to be able to hand him some healthy food. This is just one example of a student impacted after receiving the package only today. \r\n\r\nSo many of our students struggle academically and have no room for lunch on their schedules. As a school counselor, I see so much of what students carry with them each day—things that aren't always visible. Your generosity helped meet a very real need, and it has made a difference in ways that are both quiet and deeply meaningful.\r\n\r\nThe hygiene supplies have become a safe, normal part of our space. Students are able to take what they need without embarrassment or having to ask for permission in a way that might make them feel exposed. I remember one student in particular who came to see me feeling self-conscious and withdrawn. After being able to freshen up and take a moment for themselves, their whole demeanor shifted. They sat a little taller, spoke a little more freely, and were able to rejoin their day with confidence. Moments like that remind me how closely dignity and learning are connected.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, there was a sense of relief that filled the room. Some students were openly appreciative, while others expressed it more quietly—but it was clear this mattered. For many of them, having consistent access to these items isn't something they can always count on. Your support helped remove that worry, even if just for a moment, and gave them one less thing to carry.\r\n\r\nIn counseling, we talk a lot about self-worth, self-care, and showing up for yourself. Because of you, those conversations are now supported with real, tangible resources. Students are not only hearing that they matter—they're experiencing it.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, I'm continuing to incorporate these lessons into our work together. We're focusing on building healthy habits, emotional awareness, and confidence. Having these supplies available allows students to focus more fully on their growth, both personally and academically.\r\n\r\nThank you for seeing our students, for caring about their well-being, and for helping create a space where they can feel safe, supported, and valued. Your kindness truly means more than words can express.","fullyFundedDate":1762950608213,"projectUrl":"project/confidence-through-care-hygiene-product/9522235/","projectTitle":"Confidence Through Care: Hygiene Products for My Students","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Barry","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9250145"},{"teacherId":8161310,"projectId":9653080,"letterContent":"Thank you for supporting our library and helping create a space where our students feel welcome, supported, and motivated to learn. The materials you funded—including an iPad, bookmarks, snacks, toiletries, and picture frames—have made the library a more engaging and inclusive environment.\r\n\r\nThe iPad allows students to research, explore interests, and work independently, especially those who may not always have access to technology. Students are excited that the library now offers both learning tools and basic support, helping them feel comfortable and focused. One student shared, 'It's amazing to see that the library is more than a room filled with books. I can actually get things that I need.'\r\n\r\nI've seen increased participation from students who were previously hesitant to engage, and many now choose to spend more time in the library. Your generosity has made a meaningful difference in both student learning and well-being. Thank you for investing in our students. I'm truly grateful for your donations.","fullyFundedDate":1761962461364,"projectUrl":"project/a-welcoming-start-supplies-to-support-s/9653080/","projectTitle":"A Welcoming Start: Supplies to Support Students Every Day","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Devora","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8161310_orig.png?crop=1080,1080,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755601961515","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8161310"},{"teacherId":9250145,"projectId":9453702,"letterContent":"We are using the board games to play with each other and connect with different peers. Students are also engaging in different activities to get to know each other and build community. The students use the fidget toys to manage stress and cope with their day to day tasks at school. We have the board games to build rapport and relationships while exposing students to new strategies to use outside of the classroom. \r\n\r\nMy students were very happy to see that there were new items that they can utilize whenever they enter the counseling suite. They even use their lunch and after school time to use the new items. It's such an amazing thing to see. The next steps will be to create a board game club to expose students to basic board games, teach them how to work with their peers and just give them a space to authentically be themselves.","fullyFundedDate":1755740060973,"projectUrl":"project/building-brighter-futures-through-counse/9453702/","projectTitle":"Building Brighter Futures Through Counseling Games","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Barry","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9250145"},{"teacherId":9455251,"projectId":9514608,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous support of our initiative to provide hygiene supplies and create welcoming spaces for students. Because of your donation, students now have access to essential products like deodorant and hair care items—helping them feel clean, respected, and ready to fully engage in their education.\r\n\r\nYour contribution also helps us create comfortable seating areas where students can gather for meaningful conversations and receive emotional support. Just this month I have been assisting students who are in shelters, removed from their home due to difficult circumstances and also displaced due to a fire. The students stop by daily for snacks during their day. I try my best to always keep food in my office but it is difficult to keep up and afford it in my own. Now I can give everyone who stops by multiple snacks to get them through the day and evening. Children can't focus on academics when they are hungry. Now the students who need this food know to come to me and get something to eat. \r\n\r\nSome of these students have enormous obstacles in their lives they must navigate. Hunger should not be an added struggle for them. I am overjoyed to be able to help the students. To see them leave my office smiling is a true blessing.
