This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing kids! Some of them are extremely energetic, while others are more quiet and contemplative, with everything in-between. My students are a diverse group that come from various backgrounds with different learning styles and needs.

A lot of my students struggle in math and have an achievement gap, but still say math is their favorite subject.

I care about all my kids and want to do everything I can to help them succeed in my class this year. By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.

My Project

We strive to meet the needs of all our students. Within my class, I teach a variety of students: learning disabilities, ADD, ADHD, Autism, and English language learners. Also, some if not all of these students are highly energetic, anxious, or stressed out. When they "act out," or are not paying attention, they end up in trouble but, it doesn't have to be this way: they deserve more.

Kinetic Sand and Adorox Liquid Bubble Drop Motion Wheels will help students calm down if they are feeling overwhelmed.

These calming tools are both effective in helping students gain control and can easily fit into the classroom environment. Students can use these objects to decrease stress during a lesson, a silent or independent activity, or a test. They would be used in a sensory area where students could sit and take a mental break that will help them regain their focus. The plants would be put in the middle of each table group to bring the beauty and calmness of nature inside. I am hoping that students would enjoy the tranquility nature provides.

My students will become empowered by the opportunity to practice self-control, thus, developing a positive self-image and positive self-esteem. This will be evident in their classroom behavior and their academic performance. Investing in calming tools will improve the quality of education for all students.
