This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We love to read! My students are clamoring for more books. Let's give them what they want.

My fifth graders live in an immigrant and working class neighborhood.

Some of them are learning English as a second language, some have special needs, some are gifted, and all of them love to learn. Our Title I school is an important safe haven for my kids who are surrounded by poverty and gang activity.

My Project

When we drop everything and read, our room becomes silent. My students would like to add some of their favorite book series to our classroom library collection. Book like Frannie K. Stein and Diary of a Wimpy Kid can't stay on our bookshelves because they are so popular. Our Captain Underpants collection needs the addition of newer titles to the series. Plus, the "Getting to Know the World's Greatest Artists" series by Mike Venezia will teach my students about artists like Van Gogh and Vermeer, whose paintings hang on our walls. We are also crazy about Mad Libs, so the Wimpy Kid Mad Libs will be really fun!

Whether they are fighting crime with Captain Underpants, mixing potions with Frannie K.

Stein, or commiserating with Greg Heffley the Wimpy Kid, they will get lost in these great stories. With your generous donation, my students will have hours of reading ahead of them. My students and I thank you!
