My Project

We are Title I Literacy teachers in a small, rural, isolated community. Our kids read the same readers over and over for many years in their interventions. We would like to provide them with more high interest reading choices at a level where they can be successful. This will help students strengthen decoding skills needed to read grade level texts.

We work with students who are well below grade level in reading, with many who have dyslexia or an IEP with reading goals.

When students find a book they truly like, as reluctant readers, it changes the way they view reading. Every year, we see students who become successful readers because they found a high interest book/series that they found interesting. This completely changes their academic trajectory because it creates who want and are able to read on grade level.

Mrs. Woltering will only receive her materials if this project is fully funded by August 25.
