This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher at the first public charter school in Anaheim, there are many limited funds and resources made available. The students that walk into the school are more than just students; they are scholars and future leaders.

My 2nd grade scholars are bright, clever and caring.

There isn't a dull moment in the class. I am already inspired by their desires to learn and work hard to reach their goals.

Located in an low income/high poverty area, these scholars work hard to get to school everyday and stay focused throughout the day. Our class theme is heroes, and I truly think that our class consists of our next generation heroes. Equipped with kindness, determination and respect, these 2nd grade scholars could truly make a difference in the world.

My Project

A document camera will help my scholars follow a visual model. There are many EL students in the class, and they could greatly benefit by following visuals. The document camera can enlarge images or texts, and enable all students to see and follow along with the lesson. This technology in the classroom could allow for much more possibility, as I will be able to better guide instruction.

The document camera is a marvelous tool for increasing content clarity.

With it, we can do live demonstrations under the camera lens to show students exactly what is being asked of them, as well as point to exact words/sentences in a text for emphasis.
