This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school and classroom are extremely limited in technology. Because of this, many students are lacking in their computer skills. Typing is tedious, navigating websites is confusing, and analyzing web credibility is nearly impossible. These are all skills that are vital in the digital age.
My Title 1 school services a diverse group of students who face many hardships daily.
Most students, and parents alike, come from homes where English is a second language and where technology is also limited. Despite what many may see as setbacks, my students are enthusiastic and motivated to face challenges head on. In turn, they motivate me to find ways to enrich their education to help them reach their full potential.
My Project
Students will use the 4 Chromebooks with management consoles to enrich their learning. Students will be able to access programs such as SuccessMaker and Rosetta Stone to support growth in reading, speaking, and listening. Students will also be able to conduct research and type reports. The computers will also be utilized for multi-media projects related to the literature we are studying in class. Finally, students will be able to be more self-sufficient when navigating the school's library catalog. It will give them the freedom to look up books, place holds, read and post book reviews, and research lexile levels for books they are interested in.
These computers will increase student learning and motivation.
Most importantly, these Chromebooks will help bring my students into the digital age of learning, helping them to acquire skills required of them in today's modern world.
