This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
"Eenie Meenie Minnie Mo where did my favorite book go?" Have you ever read a book and when you went back to read it again, you couldn't find it? That is a daily struggle in my classroom because I don't have a way to display my books so the kids can easily find the book they want.
I have an exciting group of 19 kinders that come from a low income area of the city.
Our school has 85%+ free lunch rate. They come from wonderful families that care about their education, but many are not fortunate enough to be able to provide reading material for the students at home.
My Project
My students need a book stand and new classroom books. These materials will be used to create a classroom library so the students will be exposed to plenty of reading materials. The bookcase will allow them to be able to see and pick the books of their interest. This library setting in the classroom will help promote the love of learning and reading that my children need.
My hope for my classroom, is that it will be an environment that will cultivate learning for my kids.
This project will allow me to provide a literacy area that the students will use daily!
