Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Helping my students learn the importance of Reading and Writing is my goal in education. My 7th grade Language Arts students are energetic, creative, funny, and a joy to be around.
When Hurricane Harvey made land fall last Labor Day, our small community had a mandatory evacuation, forcing our students to leave their homes in the middle of the night not knowing where they were going or what would be left when they returned.
What an impact that made on our students. Many lost belongings and were displaced from their homes. School became the safe location with the consistency of electrical services, food, and routine.
My Project
The uses of the Chromebooks is limitless! My students will be able to research, brainstorm, and create a variety of projects to enhance their Writing development. There is just something about seeing your words come to life when printed. They will be able to enhance the text with illustrations, pictures, and even embedded art.
They won't even realize the most basic skills they will be enhancing when they use the Chromebooks.
Students can't learn if they don't practice and want a fun way to practice. Creating book trailers, movie talks, learning about dialogue in text all can be incorporated. Working collaboratively instead of pencil to paper will bring their writing voice to life.
