This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Do you use a calendar anymore? Most adults have their smart phones or computers to remind them of the date or about special appointments.
My students attend a neighborhood school which is located in a low income area of Chicago.
Most of my students do not have technology at home to rely upon, which is why it is important they are exposed to and learn basic calendar skills. My students need the extra practice to develop these important skills.
My Project
Students do not have the technological luxury that we do, and the math calendar we are asking for will help them develop a variety of essential math skills. My students will get practice counting, creating number sentences, adding money, and will even get a word problem of the day for critical thinking development.
I feel this math calendar will help my students with a variety of math skills.
We can complete these activities together as a class, and the students can complete them independently as they become more familiar with the routine.
