Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are ambitious high school students taking the most challenging math courses offered in high school. I teach a diverse group of students in a Title 1 school. Many of my students are from groups that are traditionally underrepresented in Advanced Placement classes.
Many of my students aspire to be the first in their families to attend college.
They continually work hard and need the extra supports to reach their goals of attending college. They will be further helped if they have the resources that will enable them to earn college credits during high school by passing AP exams.
My Project
With the shift to distance learning, my students do not have the access to the technology that would be available in the classroom. My one class set of calculators is not enough to supply all the students taking AP Statistics at our school. Spending over $100 on a calculator is an expense my students and their families are not able to make at this time. This project will provide all of the students that need a graphing calculator the ability to borrow the tools they need for success while learning at home.
