Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are very inquisitive and eager to learn. They are hard working and respectful kids who need the right environment and care from the adults around them. I have seen my kids try their best every single day, if we treat them right and are able to motivate them to do so. They need to be encouraged for their efforts. The majority of my students come from low income backgrounds and can not always afford all the supplies they need for their learning, therefore I have to provide them with the supplies in my classroom.
In 7th and 8th grade, students are allowed to use calculators, but unfortunately the calculators I have had for my classroom for 8 years have now broken and I will need a new class set of calculators.
My Project
Calculators are very important for students in 7th and 8th grade as they are allowed to compute their answers using the steps to solve the problems. Understanding of steps is more important, and these calculators will help even my struggling students too, as they are able to use them where they struggle in using the math facts, because of the learning gaps that they have had. This prepares them for the real world situations, in real world calculators are allowed, understanding of the process and steps is more important for them. My students work with problems based on percentages, algebra and statistics and calculator helps in easy flow of learning process.
