Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach a curious and creative group of 6th-grade scientists who are eager to explore the world through math and science. However, many of my students don’t have access to quality scientific calculators, which limits their ability to practice and apply key concepts like equations, data analysis, and graphing.
In our classroom, we regularly engage in hands-on investigations, analyze real-world data, and apply mathematical reasoning to explain natural phenomena.
These Texas Instruments scientific calculators will be used across a wide range of lessons—from calculating average speed in our physics unit to interpreting temperature changes in Earth science. With reliable calculators at their fingertips, students can focus more on thinking critically and less on struggling with manual calculations.
Many of my students come from underserved communities and don't have access to the same resources as their peers in other schools. These calculators will help level the playing field by giving every student the opportunity to succeed—whether they’re solving complex problems, preparing for standardized tests, or simply learning how to use scientific tools effectively.
