My Students

My Math 1, 2, and 3 9th grade students are excited to be closing out their first year as high schoolers! At Lab, we empower our students with the skills and mindset they need to grow into the thinkers, creators, and innovators of tomorrow. Our school intentionally mirrors the economic and diverse make-up of the city of Charlotte. My students love exploring new ideas and I am teaching them about effectively using technology to learn math and apply mathematical ideas to the real world.

My Project

Preparing students for a successful future in a 21st century classroom requires the use of technology daily. Serving a population of students from low-income backgrounds, it is difficult to ask many to purchase a graphing calculator that costs over $100.

As we offer higher levels of math, those skills will begin to require a calculator in order to be successful.

Every student deserves the opportunity to explore the world of math through a calculator, they not only learn math and technology skills but the power of discovery and problem solving.
