This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Many students grow up not liking math. They find the work tedious and difficult. When they struggle with the basics, it slows them down and deters them form learning more advanced math. My job is to change how they feel about math.
Using a calculator helps students calculate with confidence.
My accelerated 6th and 7th grade students are learning math a grade-level ahead of their peers. With calculators they are able to apply the concepts learned more accurately and effectively without the added stress both during class and on state standardized tests.
In a world full of technology, learning to use a scientific calculator teaches them necessary skills they will need to be successful in the future.
