Calculating Our Way To Success!

Help me give my students calculators to help them complete activities and labs that require math calculations.

My Project

In both Anatomy and Chemistry, calculators are needed for activities, graphs, problems, and more. Especially in Chemistry, calculations are done on nearly a daily basis. Students can use calculators on tests and quizzes. While phones and computers do provide a viable option for homework and practice, students need to keep their phones and devices away during class work. This means students need a calculator alternative for tests and work during class. In addition, students need to practice using the calculators they will have access to on the final exam. The goal of this project is to meet this need.

Students with disabilities often have access to calculators in their modifications; providing these scientific calculators in the classroom will not only address required modifications but will meet the needs of all students and eliminate a potential barrier to learning!

This project will provide one additional set of calculators for classroom use. I previously had projects funded that included calculators, but we currently do not have enough access for all students. This project will increase the number of calculators and enable all, or nearly all, students to have what they need.

Having calculators available is more important than punishing students for not bringing their own. We all forget sometimes. I provide pens, pencils, highlighters, paper, and more in my classroom already. Having calculators available for classroom use is just another way I try to give all students the chance to be successful.
