Calculating Our Success in Science Class

My Students

My students are ninth graders in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They are just beginning the exciting journey that is high school. While they are beginning this journey, it is my hope that with your help I can provide them with the best education possible. They are eager and ready to learn.

As part of the largest high school in the Philadelphia School District, our students are almost always in need of new supplies.

With differing backgrounds and consistency in science education coming from early schooling, my students need to be given a consistent and well-stocked classroom to really prepare them for their high school education.

My Project

Students in the physical science classroom are often asked to perform complex calculations. With the popularity of cell phones in today's society, students do not have acceptable calculators with them.

Due to the nature of the course, scientific calculators are almost imperative to the success of students in the classroom and the lab.

Students are not permitted to use their cell phones in class because social media apps tend to be a distraction. However, this means that many of my students do not have access to calculators to complete their work without breaking my "No cell phones" policy. I am asking for these supplies to help decrease the number of distractions and improve the overall efficiency in my classroom.
