Calculating Confidence: Tools for Math Success

Help me give my students calculators to deepen their understanding of math concepts, build confidence in problem-solving, and ensure they have the tools they need to succeed in high school and beyond.

My Project

I love how curious, determined, and resilient my students are. Every day, they come to class ready to grow as thinkers and problem-solvers, even when the work is challenging. Many of them are learning to believe in their own abilities in math, and it’s incredible to watch their confidence build as they begin to “get it.”

Calculators will be a powerful tool to help my students focus on conceptual understanding instead of getting stuck on computation.

With access to calculators, they’ll be able to explore patterns, test strategies, and tackle more complex, real-world problems. These resources will help them become more independent learners and allow them to engage in deeper mathematical thinking. For many of my students, this simple tool could make a huge difference in how they see themselves as successful math learners.
