This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Did you hate math when you were in school? Were you filled with fear? It may have been because a teacher did not love the subject. I love math! My goal is to inspire my students to see that math is useful and fun. Please help them learn algebra with modern tools and maybe they will love it too.

I have the honor of teaching awesome students with a variety of different needs.

Some of my little ones have special needs and diverse challenges. Most of my students are multilingual and are from all over the world. But of course all of my students are fabulous people! We have a great school in a large urban neighborhood in Massachusetts. We have a longer school day than the traditional model, which gives us more time to learn. We work hard and respect everyone's learning.

My Project

To function in a modern world, my students need modern tools. We focus on representing our work in multiple ways - numerically, graphically, algebraically, and verbally. These graphing calculators would help them gain the skills they need to do mathematics without getting lost in the details. We will be able to further discuss the connections of the representations than we currently are able! My students will be able to compare graphs, evaluate functions, calculate intersection points, write short programs, and discover patterns.

In affluent neighborhoods, the parents would be able to buy their children these needed calculators.

Some of my students do not have that luxury but should not be denied the chance to learn algebra with technology. Having use of a graphing calculator would be such a gift to them. My students want to learn and need tools to be able to do so. Your donation could make a big difference in their mathematical lives.
