My students are middle school students in grades 7 and 8 that come from diverse backgrounds. Many of my students speak more than one language and benefit from extra support in school. They come from a variety of countries including from Central and South America. They come to school each day eager to learn new skills in my Family and Consumer Sciences elective.
My students enjoy learning new life skills such as sewing, cooking and personal responsibility.
They benefit from hands-on experiences in labs and love to see the outcome of their hard work. Some projects my students have completed include sewing individualized pillows and monster dolls, cooking a nutritious meal, baking desserts and projects on how to strengthen their family bonds.
My Project
During the second half of the semester, my middle school students get so excited to be a part of the Cake Wars cake baking challenge! They will use their newly acquired measuring and baking skills to participate in a cake baking and decorating challenge.
Students will use their imaginations and collaborate to bake and decorate the ultimate cake!
This project is for many of the materials they will need to complete the challenge. Students will work in teams to bake, decorate and present their confectionary masterpieces!
My students are looking forward to this challenge. I cannot wait to see the designs and baking themes they come up with. The best part is, they get to taste test all the amazing cakes they have created. Thank you so much for considering this project. I am so excited to see this challenge come to life.
