Caffeination Station Rejuvenation

My Students

My students come from 2 of our counties 5 high schools. Over half of the students in our district are from low-income families. My students are from different backgrounds with several having IEP's and even some with ESOL barriers. I love that I get to help lead students to an industry that I love and spent many years working in. The automotive industry is really hurting for young technicians to take over as the aging population retires. Giving back to the industry, touching students' lives, giving them the skills they need to succeed is a wonderful feeling. I hope I can build this program to a program that sparks the interest of many more potential students that I can hopefully get the honor to help guide them.

My Project

My students like to help fund their projects and trips without asking for help from their parents or the school. Having our coffee cart has allowed my students to have real, hands-on experiences dealing with customer service, money management, and job skills.

Coffee may be good to the last drop, but as the inspirational quote says, "Individually we are a drop but together we are an ocean", let's help my students become an ocean.

Using the coffee cart - the students maintain, sell and manage the money from the sales of the products at school in the morning to teachers and other students for far less than the chain coffee stores. The students will then be able to use the profits after they have figured out expenses, to fund their own activities and/or field trips.
