My Students

I teach a satellite business program at a local rural high school. My students are amazing leaders, and we have started several student-led businesses! They wrote grants in the past to get the business up and running, but now that the business is successful, we are in need of a little more funding to expand. Our current profits are high enough to cover our expansion but that eliminates a scholarship one of the students would receive at the end of the year. If possible, we would like to expand the business to continue to create scholarships for our business students!

My Project

In 2017, students in my management and leadership studies class had the idea to open a student-managed cafe. Since the opening, the popularity of the cafe has increased and so has the menu. Our small mini fridge will no longer hold all of our items, and we would like to upgrade to a full size one! We can store some items in our room but have to share space with our family and consumer science teacher in her classroom, which is slightly inconvenient for both parties. The students analyzed the space and costs and have determined the best mid-size replacement for our mini fridge. With more space of our own, we can continue expanding and trying new business ideas with fewer limits on creativity. We hope you consider funding our business!
