This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach high school at an independent study charter school. Our mission and vision are for students to take ownership or their own learning and to be life-long learners. We do this through personalized learning, using the community as the classroom, and flexible learning.

My students come to our school because the traditional public school was not meeting their needs.

By coming to our school, they have opportunities to take college classes and have an internship. Our classroom is really like a family!

My Project

Every year, our school is required to have 3rd-11th grade take the CAASPP test. This test requires each student to have headphones during the test.

For my project, I am requesting two class sets of headphones to use for state testing.

Without these headphones, we have to borrow headphones from other classes and it takes a lot of time to organize and distribute the headphones. This time could be used for important instructional time. Also, a lot of times, headphones are misplaced when they are borrowed from class to class.

These headphones will help our entire school for Math, ELA, and Science. They will also be used year-after-year so they will be a valuable investment.
