My Students
Tech in the classroom is a wonderful thing. Students are now able to write essays, create short films, view the original Shakespeare folios, and connect to an audience that reaches far beyond the walls of the school.
But only if they remembered to charge their phone the night before.
My students are a group of upper Midwesterners who have fully embraced new technologies.
Our school is moving to a district-wide BYOD model next year, and many students and teachers are already there. Students are excited to engage with the brave new world their devices afford them.
My Project
The resources I'm requesting will help those students who forget to charge their phones the night before class. One of the big headaches of a BYOD environment is attempting to figure out what students will do if their device is running low on juice. I currently have one iPad charger behind my desk, and students frequently race into my room to claim it before anyone else. With this charging station and a variety of cables, I am hoping to alleviate the strain this poor iPad charger is currently bearing.
The external hard drive is for transferring and saving large project files from the computer labs or computer carts so students can rest easy knowing their hard work won't be erased.
Offering students the option to quickly get some more battery life will hopefully help our upcoming BYOD implementation become a success.
