This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at the tip of Texas, bordering Mexico, where my students speak Spanglish. They face many challenges such as dyslexia, special needs, and socioeconomic disadvantage, but that doesn't stop them from dreaming big.

They are determined, hard-working children, willing to learn no matter their circumstances.

I teach second-grade bilingual students who inspire me on a daily basis. These students come every day excited to start class. They enjoy hands-on activities, crafts, group activities, and especially working with technology. They face many challenges, but they don't let these challenges take over their learning experience.

Many come without knowing English, but with their determination and support from their families, they are able to conquer everything. Many students are economically disadvantaged. However, none of those factors affect these children because they want to learn. It is very satisfying seeing all these children progress throughout the school year.

I work at a very supportive school where students come first. We are all about meeting our children's needs. Our administrators have created a safe, happy environment for everyone at our school: students, staff, teachers, and parents. I love working at the very tip of Texas where my students are very unique and wonderful.

My Project

In order for students to become lifelong learners, teachers need to provide them with opportunities for creating and designing in the classroom at a young age where they are not intimidated by new challenges. My special needs population need to be exposed to such challenges. We are requesting iPad pencils to apply their designing skills in our lessons.

Art and music play an important role in our young generation of students.

The music pieces they create will enhance their video productions. It is very exciting to see how 8-year-old children can craft such great musical pieces with the iPads. I can't wait to see what they can create with the ease that this device will provide.
