Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are eager to learn. They come to school fully energized and ready to take on the day. I currently teach 5th-grade dual immersion where students are learning Spanish and English.
It is amazing to see how my students get so excited to learn two languages.
They come in with new vocabulary words and are eager to share it with the whole class. In our classroom, we live by two famous anonymous sayings, "Our hearts beat in two languages!" and "A bilingual individual counts as two!"
My Project
Our school is a low performing school and I would like to hold a Math Bee so that we can pump students up about math. Many of our students are scoring low in math, and I would like to create events that will make our students love math and feel like they can feel good about themselves. In order to have a Math Bee for all our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students we would need individual whiteboards, whiteboard markers, whiteboard erasers, scoreboards, table numbers, and lanyards. If you help us fund this project, you will not only impact 450 students this year, but you will impact many other students as the years continue because the majority of the items needed are reusable. Did I forgot to mention, every student who in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade no matter where they are in math levels or special program assigned will be part of our school Math Bee.
