Our school serves students grades 7 through 12 and is located one block from city hall. Civic students from many areas of the city are identified when they experience difficulty, allowing the focus to be on intervention rather than remediation.
For the most at-risk students, those with habitual truancy, significant behavior issues, and histories of suspension and expulsion, the goal is to change behavior so that these students will stay in school and earn enough credits to graduate.
Students are excited to explore a variety of science topics, especially bees!!
My Project
Unless it's raining, our student really enjoy working in the school garden. This urban garden is next to buildings & a concrete parking lot, so it is a beautiful place to our students.
Students will research about bees & create informational posters with messages about both the importance of bees in nature & how students can support them with garden plants.
They will use the drone to photograph the bees in the garden!!
Students will carefully study the environmental impact on bees, gathering data on local, national & international bee issues. They will plant bee friendly plants. Students will share their feelings about this experience & provide ideas for future garden insect projects.
