My students love music! There are over 100 student musicians in our middle school band. Not only do these boys and girls participate in grade level band classes every day, they choose to play in additional groups at our school; jazz band, pep band, and honors band. They enjoy performing at our school concerts and in our community.
My motto is "All In Band".
Our music program continues to grow and students succeed even with limited resources. We welcome all interested students to play in our ensembles. Many students must borrow an instrument from the school in order to participate, especially the larger more expensive instruments. There is no financial support for the band program in our school budget, so we must find funding for new instruments, repairs, supplies and sheet music.
My Project
I am requesting new mouthpieces for the students who borrow school-owned clarinets, alto saxophones, trumpets, and trombones. These students are thankful to play an instrument from our school inventory since they cannot afford to purchase their own. Often the school-owned instrument that they are using is old, but in good condition. Unfortunately, they are playing on damaged, worn out mouthpieces that have been used by many past students and need to be replaced. Donations to this project for new mouthpieces will allow students to play on clean equipment, improve their sound quality. This will help to strengthen our overall band program.
