Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

4th grade is a very important grade. Students have to work exceptionally hard all year to maintain a high GPA in order to stay at our school.

My students are very smart.

They are competitive and always want to do better! The biggest challenge we face is passing the LEAP test. If students do not pass the LEAP test they have to repeat 4th grade! For the past 3 years we have had a 100% proficiency rating and we want it to continue.

My Project

We have a math and science test at the end of each week. To review for the test, I call out questions while the students shout out answers. Due to the students competitive nature this becomes pretty serious. Especially when the winning group gets a candy or free homework pass. We have been using "old school" silver bells but it is hard to tell who rings the bell first! You can only imagine the arguments! These wireless buzzers will allow each team a chance to buzz in and most importantly allow me to be fair.

This project will enhance our weekly test reviews.

It will also make it an extremely fair game! My students will love the fact that they all have a different color buzzer and a better chance winning against their peers. It will also save the lives of many "old school" silver bells!
