My students are struggling learners who deal with various disabilities that affect their learning. High school is a very challenging and exciting time. It can be especially challenging for students with disabilities. These students are 9th-12th graders who desire to learn, but have many factors which make learning difficult. Some of these factors include hyperactivity, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, Autism Spectrum disorder, social skill deficits, attention disorders, physical limitations, psychological process deficits, and information processing problems. Despite these challenges, they want to learn.
The Coronavirus has had a major impact on my students.
They have fallen behind, felt discouraged, and some are ready to give up. Many of them have suffered with the virus themselves, causing them to miss instruction, and lose confidence in their abilities. Many of them have compromised health, which has meant they needed to isolate from their peers. I'm seeing serious emotional and social impacts, as well as the obvious impact on academics.
My Project
Wireless lock-out buzzers will provide a way to create fun, competitive, and meaningful learning opportunities as well as increase class engagement in math and financial literacy.
These buzzers can be used in a variety of ways such as team review games, starters, quizzes, exit tickets at the end of class, and much, much more!
Students will want to participate and show up to class. It will give them a reason to study and be prepared for the exam! This will help create classes that have a positive learning environment for students.
