Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at the tip of Texas, bordering Mexico, where my students speak Spanglish. They face many challenges such as dyslexia, special needs, and are socioeconomically disadvantaged, but that doesn't stop them from dreaming big.

They are determined, hard-working children, willing to learn no matter their circumstances.

I teach second-grade bilingual students who inspire me daily. These students come every day excited to start class. They enjoy hands-on activities, crafts, group activities, and especially working with technology. They face many challenges, but they don't let these challenges take over their learning experience.

Many students are economically disadvantaged. Many come without knowing English, but with their determination and support from their families, they can conquer everything. However, none of those factors affect these children because they want to learn. It is very satisfying seeing all these children progress throughout the school year.

I work at a very supportive school where students come first. We are all about meeting their needs. Our administrators have created a safe, happy environment for everyone: students, staff, teachers, and parents. I love working at the very tip of Texas, where my students are unique and wonderful.

My Project

An easy-to-operate Button Badge Maker Machine will be a great acquisition for our class. Its primary purpose will be to motivate my students' learning. During these difficult times, many students need motivation in order to keep going. Everyone will get a chance to create their first button. Their imagination and creativity will go wild! After that, they will create a button for every accomplishment they make. Everyone in my class will get a chance to earn as many buttons as possible for the remainder of the school year. They can also use them to add them to our weekly auction under our financial literacy program.

They will strive to earn and create their own award buttons!

Buttons are so popular and cute, every student will aim to earn theirs. What an awesome experience to create something you earned with your hard work. They will enjoy showing off all their buttons on their jackets and or caps.
