This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Remember when you were younger and your teacher made it possible to make a gift for your parents? Or maybe you received a special award of some kind. I want to be able to do that for my students.

I teach an exceptional group of inner-city, low-income third graders.

They are working very hard to make sure they learn everything necessary to be successful later in life. They aren't the kind of kids who get whatever they want. Their parents are hard-working people and money is tight.

My Project

If I had a button maker, I would be able to create buttons to showcase the students' reading, math, spelling, or character success. I can only imagine how proud they will feel when they walk through the halls with a button stating their academic accomplishments, birthday, or that they got caught doing something good. Imagine how you would feel knowing that someone cared enough to recognize you. Imagine, too, the looks on a mom's face when her child gives her a button with a picture of the child on it to keep forever.

I have a reading goal set for the kids and would love nothing more than to show the whole school how well they're doing.

With your generous donation, these terrific kids can feel proud of all they are doing and will be encouraged to do more.
