Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

About My Students

The students in the choir are very interested in going the extra mile to support the program. Our students are interested in getting involved in various fund raising efforts to help raise funds for the choir. They really want our program to have access to the tools to be successful.

My students are always looking for new and cool ways to fund raise. We recently received a button machine that we are using as a fundraising tool. My students love designing and making buttons to sell. There are literally dozens of student activities that they can target for fund raising possibilities. They have seen that they can capitalize on the high level of school spirit to be successful.

It has been interesting to watch students as they go through the process of brainstorming, developing and progressing through their button design ideas. Some of them are creating designs for their clubs and after school activities. I have been impressed with their ability to use technology to engineer and design graphics for their different ideas. I can see that they are putting into practice some of the things they are learning in their technology classes. The ideas of using their skills in real life situations is exciting for them and that the learning that they are experiencing is useful and practical. They have demonstrated teamwork and an ability to work together to produce a product they are proud of.

In Their Own Words

The goal we are trying to accomplish is we want to help raise money for our school choir program. The button parts that we are asking for will be used to make buttons that are sold at various school events to raise money for the music program. I know that other choir students love to get involved in these kinds of activities. I think that we will sell them by the hundreds and really help the choir program.

The button fundraiser raises funds that we need in order to continue offering special programs. We make buttons from the button machine and sell them at schools events such as, International Days, Pep rally, Homecoming and Concerts. We have very creative students come up with great ideas on how to sell the buttons to help raise money. Our teachers always hear what we want to say and do take our advice seriously. We work together as a team!

This project is important to me and my school community. The buttons we make help raise funds for our choir program. The choir program here at our school is really great and we want to help it out. We are able to get music sheets, and binders for students who may not be able to afford them. Many students come from a low-income household and we help them gain the supplies necessary for class and for the concert. This helps raise funds for our school and helps us continue our concerts.
