This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are excited to learn about the environment and its effects on the creatures that are in the garden. We are going to be learning about butterflies. It will be a thematic unit involving all areas of the curriculum to learn about butterflies.

We are asking for habitat for butterflies, pocket folders, magnifying glass, magnifying bug viewer, Swallowtail Butterfly puppet, double sided concrete tape, butterfly stickers.

The students will be able to observe the life cycle of the butterfly, learn about butterfly body parts, and learn how to set up a butterfly garden to attract butterflies in their garden. The pocket folders will be used to keep their notes and drawings organized and ready to use. The magnifying bug viewer and magnifying glass will be used at a center to observe caterpillars and their growth. The stickers will be used as writing incentive so they can write informational pieces describing butterflies. With these resources they will enjoy science while learning about insects.
