Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Kindergarten students are eager and excited to learn and look forward to fully participate in learning experiences. The primary classrooms at my school have 30 students from various ethnicities, most of whom come from bilingual households.
Our school is located in a large urban city.
All of our students benefit from character education studies. Early in the school year, students are taught celebratory phrases and encouraged to praise each other for their daily work. Praising and celebrating each other, forms a positive bond among classmates.
My Project
We are requesting the butterfly habitats, each with five caterpillars, butterfly stickers and learning resources that will allow our kindergarten students to take active part in the caterpillar life cycle. Each of the four kindergarten classrooms at my school will have their own habitat.
The voucher will be used in the spring to receive our very own caterpillars to nurture through their life cycle.
This will provide students with more hands on opportunity. Students will make observations and record in their daily butterfly journals.
Even after the butterflies have been released, the habitat will be saved and will be used for future classrooms and students in the years to come.
