Butterflies in Preschool to Grow Little Learners' Minds
Help me give my students a butterfly growing kit and materials to take my students beyond the walls of our classroom as we study and read about how to grow and rescue butterflies.
My butterfly habitat project is inspired by my special needs students' sense of wonderment and fascination with the world around them. My hope is to give them access to life science through this butterfly habitat hands-on project.
The materials I am requesting such as a butterfly habitat kit, butterfly life cycle books, life cycle figurines, and butterfly wing crafts will give my special needs students access to the fascinating world of science engagingly and interactively.
As we study what plants and flowers butterflies love and transform our preschool garden bed into a butterfly garden filled with monarch butterfly rescue wildflowers such as butterfly milkweed and purple coneflowers, the children will learn about the fascinating dance between free-flying butterflies, the plants that sustain them, and their essential role as pollinators in the ecosystem. We will study the butterfly life cycle, raise them, and finally free them to pollinate in our butterfly garden. The children will emerge with a better understanding of the environment needed for the survival of these spectacular animals. I am very excited about this study unit and can't wait to go through the exciting learning journey with my students.
