Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I would like to get a butterfly kit for my classroom. We have studied the life cycle of the butterfly, went to a butterfly exhibit to see them in person, and now I would like for the children to watch as butterflies start as larva and end up as a beautiful creature. This would tie into our Science curriculum as well as fulfilling a writing requirement. They would be writing about what they observe in a journal. I work in a hard to staff school in the South Bronx and teach the second grade. The children live in a poverty stricken area and life a typical city life. I want the children to be able to experience caring for something and observing nature, which they usually do not get to do. To accomplish this I would need to purchase a butterfly kit.
