Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are outgoing, passionate, and so excited to learn each year!
My students want to persevere, so they can have a better future than their parents have now.
Some of their parents barely made it to 6th grade. I cannot imagine my students being thrust into a job without even finishing middle school, but that is the reality for the families of many of my students.
Our school is a Title I school, and we currently have about 95% of our students receiving free or reduced-price lunch. It is difficult for most of our students to provide money for materials for class, and even more difficult for us to ask them to bring money for anything extra.
My Project
What is not completed without computers these days? In an effort to streamline and create much more meaningful instruction for students I have come to rely very heavily upon computers in the classroom.
I want my students to be able to grow and work individually on the skills that they need to work on.
This concept is extremely powerful and motivating to the students I see every day. Having this technology enables all of my students to see growth.
I have students who are almost monolingual and students who are gifted and every one of them has the opportunity to learn.
