My school serves students in kindergarten to 5th grade and provides rigorous academics, hardworking teachers and a safe learning environment for all. We are one of the top performing schools in our district, which is the 5th largest in the country. However, closing the achievement gap is tough when students do not have the necessary materials to succeed.
My fifth graders love to have novels to read as a class, it encourages class discussions and allows students to learn while being engaged as a class.
My Project
These book titles were specifically chosen to be used in our 5th grade classroom. We will be participating in 3 novel studies throughout the school year. We meet in small reading groups four days a week and also read a book as a class after lunch.
Reading is essential to learning!
Reading has always been a passion of mine and whenever I have a moment I squeeze as much reading as possible into our learning. My students have individual reading goals as well as class goals that they are working toward. These books will help them be on the right path toward achieving their goals!
