Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you know how excited boys get over science? I do, because I have a classroom full of them!
My students are 2nd graders in an all boys' class.
Our school is a small, low income, neighborhood school in a large city in Florida. My students enjoy school and investigating everything! They are also very active and eager to learn. They come from hard working families who want them to succeed.
My Project
I am asking for science safety equipment and tools to help us investigate. Active and engaged boys' are a very good thing but in science sometimes active doesn't equal safe. I am asking for a class set of forceps so my boys can safely pick up small and squirmy things. The forceps will keep their hands safe. We are also in need of safety goggles. 10 pairs of goggles will protect my students eyes when they are investigating/observing with sand, liquids and other things that may splash or spray. The class set of hand lenses will help my boys observe better and notice hard to see properties of objects. Finally I am asking for a ladybug habitat. This habitat will let us put all of our equipment and science skills to work. One of the science standards that my students are to learn is the life cycles of different animals. With the ladybugs we will be able to get up close and personal with a life cycle in our own room!
Please help my busy boys become fully safe, fully equipped and fully engaged scientist.
These materials will show my students that they are real scientist that can do real science.
