My Students

I teach in the heart of RTP. My students come from diverse backgrounds and are anxious for knowledge. They come to school each day ready to be challenged and ready to work.

We do not have the books needed to provide them the challenging reading instruction they deserve on a daily basis.

My students are adventurous, curious, creative, quizzical, and thirsty for more with each passing day. They are looking for books to help them develop their reading skills and fluency.

My Project

Students meet with me in guided reading groups multiple times per week for small group instruction. They crave a print-rich and high interest library. We work on reading strategies, fluency and comprehension.

A new guided-reading library will allow students to be even more engaged and excited about reading groups.

The books in the leveled classroom library are colorful and realistic allowing students to practice every skill they have learned. There is a wide range of genre's for them to practice their skills as well. During small group reading we see the highest level of growth for readers and their love of books and reading develop.
