Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach at a Title one school where the majority of students come from homes with high poverty. I teach in a second-grade classroom where most come from single-parent homes. Many of my students are born into poverty and go to school with little support from home. In my classroom, my students are taught the importance of a quality education and understand that it is something they deserve. My students take great pride in their education and are up to the challenge of closing the gap and breaking the cycle.

My Project

My students need small group, standards based reading comprehension activities. My students are lacking resources in the classroom that contain fictional and informational texts that teach to the Florida State Standards. This resource contains several small group activities and resources that the teacher can use to teach the standards to the students.

The lakeshore reading comprehension bundle contains passages, center ideas, informational puzzles, and other resources that will help my students meet the rigor asked for in the standards.

This resource will help increase student engagement which will increase student achievement. Please considering helping my students become better readers and writers!
