My Students

I am a social worker at an alternative school in Washington, DC where our attend our school for a variety of reasons from all over our the city. They range in age from 16 - 25. My job includes deescalating difficult situations, having supplies to help with day to day living, provide strategies/resources to deal with stress and anxiety, and being someone students come to just to talk. They would benefit in multiple ways from having access to the projects that I create here.

Over 95% of our students are eligible for Free and Reduced Lunch.

Several of our students are parents or function in a parental role to their siblings where they have to juggle school, work, and manage the household. In addition, our students reflect youth in foster care, group homes or who are involved in the juvenile justice system. Most importantly, our students are "youth at promise" and we believe in their potential.

My Project

The warmth of the baby items requested will alleviate surmounting cost that are often experienced as overwhelming for your teen parents. I will provide my parenting students with the onesies, sleepers, socks and blankets to minimize their financial expenses.

Our young parents are faced with many obstacles that impact their learning and can make life difficult.

This aid allows student's to redirect their focus on their academic, social and emotional wellness and reduce their stress.

My students are on limited incomes and many are not working. This project will give them necessary items to be good parents so they can focus on school.
