As a teacher, in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges, both in and out of the classroom.
My students are an amazing group of 3rd graders that are eager to learn and explore.
They are living a growth-mindset philosophy, embracing the new learning experiences and challenges, and are ready to stretch and grow their brain muscle. Children are like sponges, ready to soak up everything. It is my pleasure and duty to help shape their precious minds to love learning and be successful.
My Project
The winter months are quickly approaching. Imagine trying to complete your work still shivering from the cold or the pains of hunger. With the winter just around the corner I want to provide my students with gloves, scarfs, socks, and snacks. Students will be able to take the items home and wear them daily as they wait for the bus and throughout school. Being warm will allow students to be better prepared for the day ahead. Allowing them to focus on their academics instead of the cold.
"The child is both a hope and a promise for mankind."-Maria Montessori.
These supplies will help show my students that people care about not only their learning but also their personal well-being.
