Help me give my students get Fairfield Poly-Fil Feather Weight Batting, Kute Kids Super Soft Sheets Gators, Kute Kids Super Soft Sheets Sharks, Red Heart Lemony Yarn and Red Heart Scrubbie Smoothie Grey Yarn.
My students are funny, smart, and try so hard to learn and please their teacher. My class is diverse, and there are many students whose first language is not English. Having hands-on tools available to them is crucial to the success of their learning. They get so excited when I tell them, "We will be learning something new today."
Nelson Mandela once said, "Education is the most important weapon which you can use to change the world." I hope that through the education my students receive, this is something they will take away at the end of the year.
My students especially love it when I bring out the hands-on learning tools available in our classroom. It is so fun to watch their minds grow and expand as they are manipulating objects that help to solidify the difficult concepts taught in first grade. In addition to teaching my students content from the core, I am trying to teach them that education is powerful, that it will get them anywhere they want to go, and that it will help them to change the world.
My Project
I want to give my students something special to remember their experience in first grade. I thought it would be fun to make blankets for them to keep and take home. The sheets, batting and yarn requested in this project will provide some of the materials needed to make blankets for each of my students.
This project serves a dual purpose, not only will it provide my students with something fun to remember their year in first grade, but it will provide them with a warm blanket to use during the cold winter months.
If this project is a success, it may be something I do every year to help my students feel loved and warm.
