Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our high school is a selective enrollment math and science academy located in West Inglewood and my students commute from all over the south side to come here.
With the financial status looming in public education, I want to ensure my students know that they are a priority.
My students are sixty-nine percent African American, twenty-six percent Hispanic and most qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. They are hardworking and determined to reach their goals. They challenge themselves and they like to be challenged in every way possible.
My Project
The impact of having new volleyballs will help our program tremendously. This access to equipment will help students enhance their individual skill set.
In my gym, I want my players to each have a volleyball to improve in various areas of the game.
Serving would be a key example as to make sure that there is enough volleyballs for everyone.
This equipment will help our program flourish for years to come in a number of ways. We won't need to go without a set of volleyball because one team takes balls to games. Everyone will have access to use them.
