it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Creative, Hard-working, Motivated, Curious, and future innovators - These are words and phrases that I would use to describe my middle school students. As an educator at a low income, mainly minority, urban school, my students demonstrate perseverance and grit by overcoming the obstacles they are faced with everyday, which, as a young adolescent, is never easy.
I believe in the importance of a caring classroom environment where authentic learning is supported and encouraged.
My goal as a teacher is to be able to reach my students by using different teaching strategies so that each student can learn the skills necessary to be successful, both in and out of the classroom. Teaching math gives me an opportunity to teach real-life problem solving skills and the ability to see those "a-ha" moments when my students understand and relate a core concept.
My Project
These materials will be used by our middle school students to help create our school’s first ever volleyball team!
Our students have expressed interest in learning how to play but we lack the basic necessities to learn the skills.
Through this project, we hope to gain the necessary equipment to play volleyball and really learn the skills to play at higher levels! We will be competing in a league versus other local schools and we want our teams to be competitive. The only way we can do that is to make sure we can have practices that will help our athletes learn what volleyball is and how to play this fun team sport.
