Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Have you ever seen someone being bullied and didn't know what to do? My students are facing this challenge in school and are having difficulty learning as a result of bullying in school.
Creating a bully-free environment is essential for learning to take place.
Educating students about the prevalence and consequences of bullying is important for an exciting learning environment.
My students are second graders that enjoy learning and are mesmerized by information they acquired from books. They are living in a socioeconomic disadvantaged area where they have to face many challenges and bulling is one of the biggest barriers that they face in their everyday experiences.
All of our students qualify for the free meal program. We are a Title I school as well as a Performance Improvement school. Some of my students are struggling readers. Because of the many problems that these children have, the only way to not feel inferior is to become bullies themselves. As a result, this leads to an increase of bullying in school. My students need to know how to deal with being bullied and how to not become a bully.
My Project
The best way to combat bullying is to educate all students in what to do, how to speak up, and seek help. Reading books about bullying will help students gain the knowledge and strategies to deal with bullies appropriately. Students will engage in social skills and redirect bullying into other areas of study.
The Leapfrog Tag Readers will provide students with interactive reading and help them overcome the fear of reading. By enhancing their reading skills, it will allow students to express their feelings. Science activities will enhance students' abilities for teamwork and help them learn social skills through discussions and collaborations. They will also learn to express themselves with confidence against bullies.
This project will provide my students with the necessary facts on bullying; as well as give them the opportunity to be creative and present their ideas to their peers.
Help empower my students with the ability to stop bullying before they feel powerless against it and become bullies.
Your donations will provide students the necessary tools to combat bullying. You are helping to create a bully-free environment in school. This will allow students to grow up to be empathetic and build confidences within themselves.
