My Students

Have you or your friends ever been bullied? Do you believe the pen is mightier than the sword? Is it possible to stop bullying through writing? I believe we can change the way children treat each other and stop the bullying epidemic with the right words printed on a page.

I teach at a high-poverty Title I school that provides federal programs such as free and reduced lunch to our large population of economically disadvantaged boys and girls.

My third grade students are energetic and very busy within the classroom. They enjoy telling about their experiences and sadly enough not all of those experiences are positive. Many of my children have admitted to me that they have been bullied in some form or fashion even at such a young age. I wish to properly prepare them to overcome these social obstacles, to set their goals higher than anyone else, and I can accomplish this with the benevolence of generous donors, who see the problem and wish to put a stop to it. Please help me better inform my students on how to avoid bullies and how to deal with the situation if they are confronted by a bully.

My Project

Physical bullying ... verbal bullying ... Internet bullying ... When will it ever end? Obviously not until we properly educate our children on how to avoid such social pitfalls. That's why I am asking for 22 copies of the book, "Bullying in Schools", in order to put one copy in each of my children's and parents hands in order to empower them, along with several other books on bullying to add to our classroom library. In addition, we need two cases to protect our Kindles that we use to read other bullying books that are electronic books. I am also asking for an additional Kindle Fire, so my children can access even more books on bullying besides just at one Kindle station. I plan to use these materials across the curriculum, integrating them in reading, social studies, writing, and literature. Please help us turn our classroom into a bully-free zone.

With your support, we can put an end to bullying in my classroom and in our school through cross-curricular activities.

I am looking forward to working with my students on this very important social issue. All things are possible when we learn how to work together.
