My students need grade level appropriate books, including "Bullying in Schools" and "Howard B. Wigglebottom Learns About Bullies," a Magnetic Write & Wipe Big Book Center, and ink, to help learn ways to deal with bullying and how to prevent it.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Were you ever teased? How did it make you feel? How can we prevent children from hurting other children?
As of today I have 29 little kindergarteners in my class.
We are a very full class. They are anywhere from 4-6 years old. They are new to school and are eager and excited to learn and socialize. The students are thrilled they already learned how to read 5 words in the first week.
My school is in an area that is 98% Hispanic, with Spanish and English as the main languages. The children are not exposed to many other cultures, traditions, looks, skin colors and more. My goal is to help the children be exposed to people from around the world, without even leaving the grounds of the school.
Our school is in a very low income neighborhood. The children are all on Free Lunches and we are a Title 1 school. The parents and I want the best for their children and we will work together to help provide all that is needed to help their educational and social education.
My Project
Bullying? Yes! Even in Kindergarten. Kids bully for many reasons. Either due to their own Self-Esteem, lack of exposure or just lack of knowledge. Someone dresses different so they may tease or bully, because they do not know. We need to combat bullying in the youngest grades and reinforce it throughout the years. We need to teach acceptance for all those who are different then us.
I am asking for the book Bullying in Schools, ink to print online resources, books about self-esteem, books about listening and understanding, books about what to do when you are angry and a big book holder to display the books when I read to the children.
The children can get mad or frustrated and I want them to know they can always read a good book or look at pictures to calm down.
