This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
With bullying being such a huge issue in today's society, it is responsible for countless suicides of our youth, it is so important for our teens to see a movie such as "Bully" so they can understand how serious it is.
My students are all in High School, they attend school in New York City, in the most diverse area in the country.
Many are first generation Americans. My school is a vocational and technical school, where in addition to meeting the states stringent academic requirement, they also learn a trade. Many of our students receive certifications in their trade upon graduation.
My Project
What I am asking for is donations in order to take 200 of my students to see the film "Bully." They can learn more about the consequences of bullying and the seriousness from seeing this film then I can teach them in all four years of High School. I hope it will teach them to be caring, conscientious young adults, and to care for their fellow students.
This film can literally save lives.
Often people don't realize the consequences of their actions until it is too late. This film will help my students be more sensitive, and can encourage students who are being bullied to speak up.
